Poker...save a brudder would'ya.. and poker

All things this weekend were pokery. That made for a pretty good weekend in this kid’s books. Despite being very late for it and getting my aces cracked by the Hilton sisters, Kat’s Donkament was another great way to kick off the weekend.

There was a moment for my brudder Carson where he was doing his best impersonation of our friend Fuel_55.

We’ll call it, “Presto is gold.” #1, for a TuckFard

Saturday night turned into an 8 TuckFard debate over having a game or not. Any debate between more than one TuckFard can always be fun and yes, I have seen several TuckFards debate with themself. So here's how this all went down. Let’s take a vote. All in favour of playing poker, please raise your hands. Let’s take a count here shall we. 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8 in favour. OK, all opposed?
.hmmmm. OK, I guess we’ll play.

Now the question is, what to play? H.O.R.S.E.? PLO? Razz? (who the hell suggested that?) NLHE?… Oh….. Suzy_Q and QueenK want NLHE. OK, let’s have another vote. All in favour of NLHE please put your hands in the air. 1-2………. OK. All opposed?…1-2-3-4….. What about you two over there? Pebbles, what say you? “Can we just play something instead of doing all this voting CRAP !” Your concerns are duly noted and will be brought up at the next session. Bam-Bam, how about you? “I don’t give a rats ass what we play. I’d prefer H.O.R.S.E. but whatever you decide, let’s just get to it.” Thank you sir, but can we ask that you keep the tones inferred, down to a dull roar. Are there any other questions or concerns that need to be addressed by this committee? Ahh yes Suzy_Q, the floor is yours. “Blah-blah-blah….. wa-waaa-wa-wa-wa…blah-blah, moan.”
Right then ! In order to salvage the sex-life of one brudder Carson, NLHE it is!
( I keeeeeeed, I keeeed ! ) Love you Suzy_Q! Please don’t hit me. (too hard!)

A spectacular display of complete card-deaded-ness was put on by yours truly. So much so that I let several hands play themselves while I refused to actually touch the cards. This lead to the absoloute best hand of the night when brudder Carson, sitting directly to my right, decided we would check our blinds down…… well…… blind! The reveal was slow and deliberate for two reasons.
1) as a form of punishment for the others who refused to steal our blinds.. and,
2) as the completely delinquent and childish asses that we are, it was fun!
But nothing could prepare us for what was about to happen. Carson slowly rolled over his first card. The Queen of clubs. I then reached for my first card and flipped up the 9 of hearts. I figured I was killed right then and there. What happened next could not have been planned or scripted any better if we tried.

That’s right! Carson held the soooooooooted “TuckFard Nutz” while yours truly was holding “The Bammer.” Pictures were taken and much drinking and laughing ensued.
Aaaaaaaaaaahhhhh…… Good times !

*** Author’s note*** …… Yes, when you are as card dead as I have been for so long now, these are in fact, good times at poker. My buy-in was worth every penny to have this one hand play out this way. Some of the best money I’ve ever spent! I know, I know…. It’s a sad state. But at least I’m living it. Not you !!

It was a great time and as expected, I busted out Gigli. I think the hand I picked to go on was the Kh and the ??. (all the little cards are a blur. But I remember the one face card I saw in that two + hours !) Surprisingly, my hand did not hold up and I was alone at the bar. I have great friends! Once the roar of laughter at my bust out was contained to mear chuckles, I think they really felt bad for me. I love’em all ! Pebbles was next and so….
Saturday became a much earlier night than intended. We were in bed by 3:00am.

Sunday was “Team TuckFard’s” weekly migration to the hall to kick some ass. Our current status in the points was I believe a whopping 51 point lead over the second place team. Playing for the Tucks was Carson, Nutzy, my favorite pair ‘O’ T’s TotalTilt, the lovely Pebbles and our hero, moi! I had managed to hang in there during the first hour of play, despite being temporarily switched off of the “bammer” and being sent on a sick run of 2-4 off suit. I took down one small pot in that first hour, but it was enough to cover almost all the blinds I’d lost through the same time frame. At first break, I was –1 BB. Then I managed to get myself into a three-way pot while holding K-K. I got into it as the BB after having a 2x raise from a small stack and a call from the second smallest stack. Both had made super-double-donkey plays on not one but FOUR separate occasions in that first hour. I figure my reputation has to be worth something and lord knows I’ve shown that I’m playing just a bit snug ! So I popped it up 3x pot. The first player to raise takes forever and a day, no less than 13 card checks and another look to count the pile of chips in the center of the table, (despite the fact that he was the one that splashed it and made it virtually impossible to count without touching and sorting) then grandly announced, “all-in.” Player two folds and I take my, ‘really need to pay attention here’ read. “Why would you do that with A-Q?” I ask. … “I call”

***Author’s other note***……Giggle of the day for you. You might have made a pretty good read.. if the player you are questioning actually picks up their cards and looks at the backs of them. Honestly, I started laughing.

Surprisingly, (based on data available from the last several months) my hand managed to hold up. In just under one orbit later, I get dealt K-K again. The same smooth player introduces himself to the pot with an all-in splash this time. It is folded around to me and I ask for a count. (Not because I didn’t know how much it was, but in these self-dealt Canadian games, I want him to clean up his mess) He gives me his number and of course it wrong. I give him the correct number and he re-counts. “I call” and his face told me that he didn’t want a caller. It was just the two of us again in the end and this time, it was K-K vs. Q-10. No issues, flop of Q-2-Q took care of all of that and I double him up.

Eventually, I got as low as 48,000 in chips and the blinds were 2,000 / 4,000. I then actually went on a min-tear of sorts. I doubled up with A-Ks. Then I semi-doubled that up with K-K. Then I semi-doubled that up with "the soooted carson." I was suddenly sitting with almost 400,000 and had air to breathe for a while. Then I got a kill from a short stack that ran into my 6-6-6 while holding big-slick on a flush draw. I boat on his river flush card ! wOOt !

I ended up head's up with the lovely "Lady L." A very nice person, solid player and great company at the table. We managed to get about 13 or 14 hands played before any great dramatics. I had a read on her as weak in a spot where I picked up pocket 3's. She held A-J and disguised it well. Miraculously, I won that race too! That changed the momentum heavily in my favour. I got that same read again about 6 hands later. I was holding pocket 10's this time. When she pushed it seemed out of desperation more than anything else. She had some good covers though and used them well throughout the game. I went with my gut and called. My 10's held and I'd won the game for the TuckFards. Nutzy, DonKaaaa and Pebbles were all there for me at the end. Railbirds rock !

I had a decent game of NLHE for a change. Maybe things can turn around from here on out.

You just won't find me holding my breath for that.

My sincerest thanks for dropping by....

Is "smooth player" the sun glasses and iPod kid dressed in white?

I haven't played against him yet, but I think he's "people".
