So close, BASH practice and GOOOOO Schaubsy....

My prediction for total annihilation of the field yesterday, was SO close! DonKaaa, Queen_K and Pebbles made up my foursome at our 5th. Annual Hospital tourney, at our home course. Not too surprisingly, we were all on our games. DonKaaa started out hot from the tee. Peb's and Queen_K were hitting their usual bombs from the tee's, on the par4's and 5's. Like, HUGE bombs! Like, Donnie and I had wedge or lob wedge to two of the shorter par 5's kinda bombs! It was with distance advantages like that, that my short game really kicked into gear. I then did what I tend to do best, I fired at the pin. Bounces went our way at times and at others, they didn't. The ground is still very damp and I had some serious "junk" on the ball from 100yds and in. Throwing it past the pin quickly became the way to go. Every single one of us made a clutch putt or two and we posted a score of -16. Sixteen under is nothing to sneeze at considering the conditions. It would take a great game to beat us and the scores coming in, all hung around the -8 to -10 range. Then we saw it! -21 !!! WTF !!! We know the golfers and we know they're good, but -21 ? WOW !!! Then we realized how they managed the score. They were only a threesome. As a threesome, one of them always got a second shot. That is invaluable, when you are a golfer of their caliber. They birdied many of the same holes as us and struggled with two of the same tough pin placement holes that we did. But they had a great putter, that got a second chance. Seldom do any of us miss, when presented with that opportunity. The difference was in those Eagles, where we'd made a great birdie.
So close, but yet so far away! Next year, this beyatch is OURS !

Heading out to Barney & Betty's for a little pre-BASH warm-up soon. With everything that's been going on lately with Fred, it'll be great to see everyone for certain. And the liquor will surely flow at a very steady pace. Lord knows, I could use the, "practice!" Good times !

If you know anything about me at all, you know I love my Golf and I love my Country. With that said, there's double pleasure in watching a friend go for something pretty special in the World of Golf. Schaubs is shooting for $1,000,000 and a win in the VW Shoot-Out out West. Stop by and wish him good skill for me. I have a hunch he's going to take the mother down! Just breathe and shoot at the pin Schaubsy. I know you can do it!

Lastly, our thoughts go out to our Texas connection. Hopefully you'll all take the time to consider those in the path of Ike. Some are near the path, some are not in their homes, but are hopefully in a much safer place at the moment. Know that our thoughts and prayers are with each of you and your families. Be safe !

Gotta' love that last line no?

Special thanks to PE. Best "railer" in the world!
HUGE golf tourney tomorrow for the local hospital. Gotta' raise some funds for the Cancer ward! Saturday, I'll be bombed at Barney's. Should be capable of putting two or more coherent words together by some time Sunday.

Have fun all.

No wonder Al's a Chelsea fan....

For the life of me, I could never get over Al's constant ramblings about Chelsea.(NSFW?)With him, it's always "Chelsea this" or "Chelsea that."

Obviously, I get it now! Goooooo Chelsea !

Had Waffles actually been clever enough to figure all this out on his own, I'm sure he woulda' been a huge Chelsea fan a long time ago. ;)

OK ! On to some pokery stuff!

Brudder Carson asked me a question yesterday, related to the On-Line STUD variations and showdowns. Since I-am-not-a-geek, I couldn’t give him an answer that made any sense. Besides, it never really mattered to me. That was until… I started reviewing HH’s to see how it was being done. Then I reviewed some of the “steamier” blogs about who sucked out on whom and how they chased down to 7th. street to hit. Hell, I even think I may owe cem an apology for Monday’s accusation of a chase. I wish I had that HH to figure it out to be honest. I don’t do many HH’s in the TuckFard games. I take notes on the fly.

So here’s a question for anyone who cares to supply their take on what and why this is being done. If none of them make any sense, I’ll try my luck with F/T support to see what they have to say.

Carson asked :

“Why the hell do they sometimes flip cards around at showdown, when they already break down the best five cards to determine High and/or Low?”

So I grabbed a few examples and took a look. The first three examples that I looked at went like this.

This one..... did not change! But, the guy mucked. (does it matter?)

*** 7TH STREET ***
Dealt to BamBamCan [As Ad Ah 3h Jc 2s] [3c]
I8tekid checks
BamBamCan bets $4
I8tekid calls $4
*** SHOW DOWN ***BamBamCan shows [As Ad Ah 3h Jc 2s 3c] Aces full of threes
I8tekid mucks
BamBamCan wins the pot ($31.30) with 6,5,3,2,A

But this one did change... and it makes NO sense at all?

*** 7TH STREET ***
Dealt to BamBamCan [3c 6s Ac 2h 7h 2s] [7d]
unklebobby bets $4
BamBamCan calls $4
*** SHOW DOWN ***
unklebobby shows [7h 6h 5c Td 4d 7c 6c] T,7,6,5,4
BamBamCan shows [7d 6s Ac 2h 7h 2s 3c] 7,6,3,2,A
BamBamCan wins the pot ($38.30) with 7,6,3,2,A

It flipped the 1st. and 7th. cards? Why bother?????
It just makes it look bad to the other player! I had my 7 made by 5th. Why make it look like I hit on 7th.?

Now figure this one out if you can!
(Courtesy of the fine folks at Brickin’ the Nutz)

*** 7TH STREET ***
Dealt to surflexus [8d Ac 4c 2c 3d 6d] [5c]
bbb_ark99 adds $20
surflexus bets $10
Tybeetime420 calls $10
*** SHOW DOWN ***
surflexus shows [8d 5c 4c 2c 3d 6d Ac] 5,4,3,2,A

What is the reason for flipping the 2nd. and 7th. cards? Why not the 1st.? Surf already had his 6 and the 5 was just bonus. Why show it so differently? Again, it only makes the play look worse than it should.

I’ve spent hours going over HH’s. No matter what variation, STUD or RAZZ,
It always seems to be done this way. A good play is made to look like a chase on the winners side.

Again from Brickin’ the Nutz ;

*** 7TH STREET ***
Dealt to 1Queens Up1 [As 2h 3s 6d 9h 5c] [Qh]
1Queens Up1 bets $1
Happy One 35 calls $1
*** SHOW DOWN ***
1Queens Up1 shows [Qh 2h 3s 6d 9h 5c As] 6,5,3,2,A
Happy One 35 mucks

Hey wait! Happy mucked here too! Why did it change them this time?

Now I understand in the grand scheme of things, it really doesn’t matter. You play how you play and you takes yer’ chances. But why make the hand look so much like a chase? Why possibly cause all the tension?

Any ideas?

Premonition masochism....

As we sat down together after golf, DonKaaa and I discussed our games, the course conditions, the BIG game we have coming up Friday and of course, The Tuesday Night Skillz game.

We decided, our Golf games were in great shape, but the course not-so-much. (incredibly wet Summer) Together with Peb's and Queen_K, we will annihilate the field come Friday and.... we both love RAZZ. We talked RAZZ and some crazy situations that can come up in the game for quite some time. Almost too long to be honest! As we really needed to make a move for home, if we were going to make it in time to sign up.

We talked about the frustration of getting the ultimate starters and being bet into, only to run brick-brick-brick on the next several streets. We talked about those amazing rolled up hands, like the A-A-A that you'll never see in a STUD game in your life. My personal favorite, (so it just had to be talked about!) The relentless run of brings a player can go on. We talked about everything in the game for certain! Everything negative that is!

pre·mo·ni·tion [pree-muh-nish-uhn]
1. a feeling of anticipation of or anxiety over a future event.
2. a forewarning.

On the short drive home from the course, the thoughts from our little talk had been rattling around in my head like a virus. Negativity running rampant through my brain, as I made the final turn into the driveway. All the thoughts I was capable of processing at the time, were black and cancerous bad RAZZ run related, as I clicked on "Register" on the FullTilt window open in front of me.

mas·och·ism [mas-uh-kiz-uhm]
1. gratification gained from pain, deprivation, degradation, etc., inflicted or imposed on oneself, either as a result of one's own actions or the actions of others, esp. the tendency to seek this form of gratification.
2. the act of turning one's destructive tendencies inward or upon oneself.

"bing," is the noise I hear, as my table opens up for the game.
<1 minute before game begins.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand............ GO!

My first hand dealt out.......

Dealt to BamBamCan [Jh Js] [Jc]
Oh! and I get the bring.

fore·shad·ow (fôr-shād'ō)
adjective
1. indistinctly prophetic
noun
1. the act of providing vague advance indications; representing beforehand

One of my personal favorites!

Dealt to BamBamCan [4s 2s Ac Ah] [Ad]
BamBamCan: Did anyone not see that coming?
GWD: go for the full house
Happy One 35: lol
BamBamCan folds

In a sick and twisted way, it became fun! Like..... I'm actually contemplating making calls, just to see how awful a hand I can make kinda fun. In a few cases, I took it a little past the "contemplate" stage.

Dealt to BamBamCan [Kc Kd Ad Ks] [Qh] <=== just a little outside!
Dealt to BamBamCan [8h 8c 7h 8d] [7c] <=== Bingo!

Not that it was anything really new for me, ( I estimate I was good for approx. 29% to 34% of the brings at a 7 player table) but the "Bring Monster" was put on overdrive!

BamBamCan brings in for 100
BamBamCan: I'm just going to set this to auto-bring
GWD:lol 7 in a row
BamBamCan: Don't forget 9 of 10 :)

After I had a semi-descent board showing and bluffed Happy One 35 off a pot when I actually had two pair, (and showed 'cause it's just way too friggin' funny at that point!) it only became fitting that I ended up busting out to him, with the exact same two pair of 6's and 9's. He even warned me that he'd made but it didn't matter. I was done being, "entertained" for the night.

Every once in a while, you're going to have one of those nights.
I eventually got around to figuring, I might as well enjoy it!

My bud Poker Enthusiast stopped by for some chat·och·ism. That's where you not only take great pleasure in watching others perform harikari with a deck of cards, but you actually encourage it with type and wit! I'll give him full marks for last night. He was quick with more than just the keys! Always great to see P.E. an if you haven't been reading over there lately, get your azzes in gear. He's been putting some great reads up and I suggest everyone head on over. It all starts HERE, and you can figure the rest out for yourselves!

Big news is, PE say's he is seriously thinking about making Al's Bash. That would be great! If there's anyone out there who can give him a nudge in the general direction of PA around Sept. 26th., it would be greatly appreciated!

My sincerest thanks for dropping by....

Kippies and Puttens coming soon....

Yup ! You guessed it. Cat's are definitely sleeping with Dogs!

I'm assuming the moon was very full last night, and that me holding my tongue just so all evening ended up paying off huge. In what has to be one of the weirdest occurrences known to mankind, I won another TuckFard Open last night.

I had a great head's up battle with the lovely Queen_K, swapping the chip lead back and forth until I finally managed to get her frustrated enough to push with lesser holdings.

As is always the case on any given Monday night, the TuckFard banter was priceless. We had Bay and Muhc out once again, and that just makes the night so much more enjoyable I tell you. We also had a special guest appearance by the beautiful Kat! A very pleasant surprise indeed! I love these TuckFard games! What a great crowd.

The TuckFard II HORSE game had a surprisingly low participation last night. This game had been growing to a steady two full tables and sometimes, even three. But only seven runners made it for the show last night. No matter, what we lacked in quantity, we more than made up for in quality. Muhc joined in on the fun, as did semi-regular and almost honourary TuckFard, cem. cem runs the Skillz games on Tuesday nights on FullTilt at 9:30. Tonights game is RAZZ I believe and it should be a blast to play in. Hopefully you'll check it out and if you do, the P/W as always is Skillz. My making it out to the Tuesday games, always hinges on Golf. If I can get away in time, I'll hopefully see you all at the game tonight. Lord knows, I loves me some RAZZ!

I think I'll stick with the mixed up animals theme here, as by some strange manner of VooDoo and what surely must have been tonnes of bad "Juju," some Donkey won the HORSE.

That's right kiddies, BACK-TO-BACK !!!

Almost the perfect night! Now if only.........

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee !!!!!!!!!!!
(Take that Drizz!)

NOW it's a perfect night!

One other item to bring up today, the Sunday Brit Bloggaments. What a hoot! I've managed to make it out to the last several games and believe me, these things are a riot. I've noticed that since the games were moved from Stars to Tilt, several more regular blogger games players have been making it out for the fun. The SOCO lover says that these games are, "just like the old day's." I can't agree or disagree with him, since I'm just a kid and wouldn't know anything about that long ago. ;) But I can say, the games are a lot like our Monday night TuckFard games. Great folks, great banter and some friendly competition to go along with it all.

This last Sunday was REALLY like a TuckFard game! As the Tuck's basically invaded the UK folks, by representing 1/3 of the field. Then we out did ourselves, sending 5 of the 6 of us to final table. WoooooooT TuckFards!

I really tried to focus in this game and was crushed when I ended up bubbling at the end. My push of nearly 2000 chips pre-flop with 8-8, was no match for Acorns call with Q-J sooooooted. On a hilarious side note! This is exactly how Acorn bubbled out of his next game! Justice I say... SWEET JUSTICE !

So I bubbled and had to settle for feeling like I played well again. At least muhc made a couple of bucks for himself and, it was great to have so many friends show up for the fun. I'll have some more about that later on, over on the TuckFard site. I have a long overdue post to get up there. You know what? I should get on that right now dammit!
