America, you ignorant slut*....

What kind of focus issues does a nation have to have, when an athlete is thoroughly disgraced and broken because of a hit off a joint?

Now not to start an international incident here or anything, but don't we all have slightly bigger problems than Michael Phelps taking a toke?

It's when you guy's pull crap like this, that it just confuses the hell out of me.

Your current President can be a toker and an admitted user of and I quote from his journal, "blow when you could afford it." In fact, several of your previous Presidents have also admitted to pot use at one time or another, and life just rolls along as normal for them! Hell! You'll see those Presidents joking about it on Saturday Night Live!

But a kid at a party is seen with a pipe to his mouth, we should bust his ass and take away all that he's worked for dammit!

Your national game is a disgrace and records for the last ten to twelve years should probably all be thrown out the window, due to performance enhancing drugs. Who's using, who's not, who's honest about it, who's in denial? A total crapshoot as to who is legit and who's a super-user. The sport is a farce right now and that's a real shame for a game with such a beautiful, long and storied history in the world of sport.

Get caught taking a hit off a pipe though, and your sponsors and fans drop you like a rock!

A professional Basketball player damn near becomes legendary, for abusing a 19 year old girl in a hotel room and settling out of court. Hell! The team flew him in and out of L.A. daily, so he could be in court, but still make the games at night. Maybe that's just a part of that game though? Who was it before? Oh yeah that's right! Didn't Ruben Patterson from the Sonics do hard time for rape as well? Fifteen day's.... FOR RAPE! YES.... DAY'S!

That hit of grass at the party though, that should cost you everything you've worked so hard in life to achieve, right?

Back in 1998 after losing his Gold Medal at The Nagano Olympics, we as a nation welcomed home Ross Regabliati with open arms and laughs of joy. I mean, go figure huh? A 20 something kid living the Snowborder lifestyle, traveling with 100's just like him, had some THC in his system. Ya' think a party just might break out sometime through it all people?

If you can help me understand why Michael Phelps should even be under the microscope as much as he is, let alone as far under the bus as it seems most are willing to throw him right now, I would greatly appreciate it.

Why don't we spend a little of our energy focusing on getting a few of our friends gainfully employed again, or maybe take a look at that minor little pollution issue that the half-million dump sites nationwide may be causing for our kids. There might even be a couple of other things a little higher on our list of "issues" that need to be dealt with, other than young master Phelps and his momentary inhale.

Crazy thought here! Why doesn't someone smarter than me figure out how to tie UIGEA and a little grass together? Since your new #1 man Barrack admitted that he too googled Phelps Pot for the whole story, it surely couldn't hurt.

Oh and don't even think of hitting me up with that, "Michael Phelps is a role model for our kids" crap either! If the President of the United States of America isn't supposed to be a role model for your kids, I don't know who the hell is. Isn't your country special, because anyone can grow up to be President? Even the occasional use as a kid, pot smoker?

Priorities kids..... PRI-FUCKIN-ORITIES !

*Always my favorite S.N.L. line! First chance I've ever had to use it!

My sincerest thanks for dropping by....

Our national past time is no longer baseball. Football took it over looooong ago.

I agree with everything else.

I think the word you're looking for is hypocrisy.

The Alcohol and Tobacco Industries (along with the Pharmaceutical Industry in deep background I’m sure) are fighting against “illegal” drugs in favor of their “legal” drugs. Hey, let’s face it, if people could use stuff they can grow in their back yard instead of buying all the Over the Counter or In the Cooler crap, what would happen to those industries?

This is also why I denounce all Religions, with the possible exception of Buddhism. These people want to shove their particular slice of morality down everyone’s throat. That’s why it’s laughable that most “Christian” groups in America condemn Islam for doing the exact same things.

Prohibition against Pot is just as reprehensible today, as prohibition against alcohol was in the 1920’s. As Dennis Miller once said so succinctly, “If you make all drugs illegal, people will go outside and spin around until they fall down.”

ARE YOU KIDDIG ME???

How dare you indict a whole country off of something that has NOTHING to do with nationalism!!!

Why does everyone always have to turn things into moral issue anyway?

It has nothing to do with morals character, or integrity anymore.

It's always about the dollars. Always. Nothing more , nothing less.

ALWAYS the dollars.

Phelps is about the dollars. Kelloggs doesn't care he's smokin' up. I bet they smoked up after they signed the deal in the board room.

But there happens to be a thing called the media that has to report stories and America (reads AMERICA's, INCLUDING STUPID CANADA, and MEXICO) have a disease.

It's called group think. A person is smart, sane, and rational. PEOPLE are stupid.

Kelloggs doesn't want to have to face the backlash, perceived and pushed by the press or not, of losing profits because of keeping the guy on the books who was caught sucking on a glass dick.

Of course, PARENTS, whether or not they view those actions as acceptable do not want to have to explain to their children what that douche was doing. AT LEAST UNTIL THEY'RE OLDER. Toddlers are very curious.

Phelps being on a box of wheaties tells the child that he is cool, succesful, someone to be like.

Then they see him getting high and they're supposed to know the difference? I'm not talking teenagers here. I'm talking toddlers as well.

As a parent, I will decide when it's time for my child to be able to understand the issues of the world. I don't want a cereal box to determine it for me.

It's not hypocrisy. It's not STUPID americans. It's called responsible parenting, and since PARENTS are the ones who spend the lion share on consumer goods, Kelloggs and everyone else gets it.

Accept of course crazy canadians who didn't have the burden of youtube, the web, and evey other outlet that is more capable of corrupting children without you knowing it, when their kids were toddlers.

OH YES I DID!!!!

Before this gets turned into some kind of war of the bloggers bit YES, I have been in contact with Riggs and, I told him his work here was brilliant.

BUT !

Riggstad you ignorant slut!

(WOW !!! Getting to use that twice in one day is like..... WOW!)

I will go with you on this, because I know you're fundamentally right and when you're right, I know how you get all jammed up about things.

Just one point of perspective back at'cha though.

Don't you think the fact that he can perform at such a high skill level, despite his obvious love for life and party, should make him an even stronger role model for our kids?

I mean, if the parents (and Kellogs) are capable of putting the right spin on things, shouldn't a celebration of a human being that makes a "mistake" (so not my words) but is still able to perform at a world class level be inevitable?

He's not a robot, he didn't rape a girl, there were no deaths that we know of, he's a clean cut kid, he's exceptional at what he does and he's human and makes decisions that some find questionable.

I'm just saying,

Read : Media darling up here.

And that was my basic point. The differance in perspective alone, is amazing to me.

But then again, I am just an ignorant slut!

WOW !!!

:)

I'll assume that you meant his ability and talent and the hardwork, dedication, and discipline to get there outweigh the stupid thing he did.

It does... to a 16 year old. Not a 6 year old.

"I mean, if the parents (and Kellogs) are capable of putting the right spin on things, shouldn't a celebration of a human being that makes a "mistake" (so not my words) but is still able to perform at a world class level be inevitable?"

You really expect me to explain this behaviour by putting a spin on it? POT is illegal. It's bad for you. My kids will try it when they are old enough, if they choose to. I don't need to explain to them that it's ok because the guy has success elsewhere in his life.

"He's not a robot, he didn't rape a girl, there were no deaths that we know of, he's a clean cut kid, he's exceptional at what he does and he's human and makes decisions that some find questionable."

BOO FUCKING HOO!!! WAAAAHHHHH I'm a person! I'm allowed to make mistakes.

But let me tell you this. ONCE HE SIGNED THAT CONTRACT HE BECAME A GODDAMN EMPLOYEE OF KELLOGGS INC.

You're not friggin perfect either. You go to work and hit a bong pipe and see what happens to you. It's not AMERICA that is this way. It's the whole western world. Celebrities and such have it bad because they aren't people anymore. They are brands.

YOu friggin people want to make some sort of social statement about shit like this all the time, when all it comes down to all the time is MONEY!!!!

It's just like the goddamn BBT. I'm on that post right now. I'm in a good enough mood!

Thnx for unblocking the writers block brudder!

Don't look at me, I'm all for legalization of both organics and chemicals. Just think of the money not pissed down the tubes trying to interdict about 1% of the stuff that comes thru the pipelines. Just think of the money raised thru taxation. Just think of the decline in urban violence when rivals for the same money making street corner aren't doing drive bys. Maybe a kid starts to actually think about getting a legitimate job when he no longer can make a fortune, relatively speaking, standing on that street corner.

As for the morality of use that comes down to two issues for me. One, as Riggs has said, it's a parenting issue. Teach your kids proper values and hopefully they follow them. Point the second, if they prefer not to listen to sage advice then I don't believe in protecting fools from themselves.

Phelps shouldn't have exhaled.

America prides itself on being ignorant (see: National Debt).
