And so it continues....

First off, nothing against cem here at all. I wouldn't be going anywhere with that set either and it was LIMIT hold'em in a HORSE game for Pete's sake. He surely thought he had a huge fish on the line after the flop. This was actually the best beat Ive taken for some time now. It was a hand that played itself.

It's just draining on the system to have this happen night after night, night after night, night after night. Congrats Rob, Neil and Gary! You might have actually broken me of the on-line hold'em habit.

The facts are what the facts are. My personal favorite is, "don't slow play those!" after getting Aces cracked for the umpteenth time by some crap hand like 8-J "sooted." Let's face it folks, you were playing the hand no matter what I did. I raise 4x, I get called. I raise 10x, the ones with 10-2 are coming for the ride too. I slow play them, some Donkey with 6-K is so right there for the kill. It just doesn't matter. Obviously, I am the least "skilled" player in the entire hold'em world.

Tonight's HORSE game was the perfect example of how on-line poker works out for yours truly.

-LHE- I hang on and only lose 1/2 my stack. Having A-A, K-K and a set of Queens busted and knowing that I had to fold. Yay me! Despite my lack of "skill."
-Omatard- Jebus cripes! You do not want to know what kind of hands won after bet, bet, bet, bet, bet and SPLIT! (over and over again!)
-Razz- Built part of my stack back up with the nutz!
-STUD- Built it all the way back up and then some, while others were drawing dead.
-STUD H/L- they're back! A,3,5,6,7 rainbow won so many splits it was just sick. Only to have a pair of Aces in the hole, hold up for the high because there's no threat in a players board that reads 3,5,6,7 when they're betting.

I've come to the conclusion that, it just doesn't matter how or what cards I play on a regular basis. Someone's just going to do it so much better than me. Without the feel of a live game, or the magic that is the concentration required for the STUD formats, I will continue to lose boat over boat, set over set and straight flushes 9 high, will always beat my flopped nut flush in the end.

This my friends, is the SharkScope theory! If your monster get's beaten every single time you play, you truly deserve the little fish in the bowl. Like me, you obviously have no clue how to play the game.

Glub-Glub!

Pebbles kicks butt! Me, not so much...

I've come to the conclusion that my wife is one of the best poker players I know. Yes I've always known she was good and yes, most players that play against her live, get the same feeling as everyone else. She's a rock.

But having watched her play more and more these last few weeks, I seriously wonder if she couldn't make a living out of on-line poker. Here's why :
-She avoids bad-beats constantly.
-She remains calm no matter what.
-She gets in with the best of it and holds up 99% of the time.
-She catches almost every time she makes a little slip up.
-She makes money.

Oh and one more thing! FullTilt apparently loves the hell out of her~!

Seriously! The girl is on a run! Now having said that, the run has lasted about 3 months or so and maybe I just need to concede to her ultimate superiority in NLHE. Her bankroll is well above 6x the original deposit made and that's despite all the goofy things I make her enter, just for the fun of it.

Whatever it is, I just hope it's catching and I somehow manage to get infected by the "played good poker and won" bug.

I played HORSE events 4, 5 and 6 over the weekend. One win and two thirds. Meh results IMHO, because I should have easily won at least one of the other games. I was over-boated by a chaser with a monster chip stack in game 6. I got in good and had a really good idea of what I was up against. His draw was thin and yet like they always seem to do against me these days, he got there.

The third place finish in game 4 was a miracle. I had no cards in any form of the game and stole two pots that had been built up a bit, by being the aggressor into a couple of hands that I was pretty sure had hit back-to-back bricks. Oddly enough considering it was HORSE we were playing, they were my only real won pots during the entire game. A few completes here and there were not challenged and I'd drag in a few small pots once in a while, but no actual action as it were. It didn't take to long to make it to the money, as the pattern continued of watching the HORSE savvy take out the not-so-savvy players in the game.

I stuck my foot into the NLHE pool again for a couple of games and the results were very typical. Bubble the money in 10th. place last night and busted out in 51st. place in an afternoon game. My 10th. place was handed to me by the ever powerful Acey-Duecey, after I'd committed a little too much of my stack on a raise in position with big slick. Of course, 2's popped up everywhere and I was done. My 51st. place finish was the result of flopping top set for my pocket Kings against a player that I have about 100 different notes recorded for. He bet the flop into my made set and my move was simple, JAM IT ! As expected, he called instantly. With pocket Jacks! He'd missed the flop and the board only had one over card on it. I guess I get it? He types in the obligatory 'NH' and 'GG' as both the turn and river bring him the only two Jacks in the deck. My turn I guess..... NH Sir.... oh, and GG.

The Bam-Bam alphabet....

Making my way back to the cave via the commute from hell yesterday, I started thinking about things that I’d tried to teach my daughter about life. Having her Grad just recently, I found myself looking at the person she’d become, rather than just my baby girl. I tried to step back and honestly analyze how well she’d taken to my “alphabet” lessons and see if I could recognize any of these qualities in her right now. I’m very proud to say, I certainly could.

It was me that called them the “alphabet” lessons. (you’ll see why in a bit) In fact, I’ve never let on to her that they were any kind of lessons at all. I just made sure she heard at least one of the 26 sayings every single day and it always made me feel better, if it was me hearing one of them from her instead.

A lways be true to yourself.
B argains seldom are. Be it a price or a handshake.
C hoose wisely. For true friends are family you get to choose.
D ecide immediately. First instincts are usually right.
E veryone deserves a 2nd. chance. No one gets a 3rd.
F ollow your heart. It will hurt sometimes, but make you stronger too.
G o with your gut. No explanation, but it’s usually right.
H elp those that need it, when you can.
I dentity is who you are. Not how others perceive you.
J ust be yourself.
K ids will learn from you. Teach well.
L ove finds you. There’s really no sense looking.
M ake mistakes. Learn from them, rather than fear them.
N o one’s perfect. Do not expect it of others or yourself.
O nly change something about you, if you don’t like it.
P lay a lot. It will always be the best part of your life.
Q uestions are a good thing. Answer when you know, ask if you don’t.
R emain calm. Someday, you or maybe another will be glad you did.
S chool is to teach you to learn from everything, not teach you everything.
T ell someone you love, that you do. Better yet, show them often.
U nusual is not weird. It’s just unique.
V ote. You only have a say, if you’ve used your say.
W ith the exception of the end of the World, nothing is the end of the World.
X never marks the spot. The best treasures are always stumbled upon.
Y in and Yang is a fact of life and well worth learning about.
Z oo’s are not the animal’s home.

So there you have it. The alphabet of life, according to Bam-Bam.
